Dance Styles and Music
Ballroom dance is a collection of individual partner dances. The Peppermint Dance Club teaches and plays music during the evening for the following:

Smooth: Foxtrot, Night Club 2 Step, Quickstep, Polka, Viennese Waltz and Waltz.
Latin Rhythm: Argentine Tango, Bachata, Bolero, Cha Cha, Merengue, Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Tango, and Zouk.
Swing Rhythm: Balboa, Carolina Shag, Charleston, East Coast Swing, Hustle, Lindy and West Coast Swing
Country: Country 2 Step

During the dance we use a lighted board that shows the sequence of the dances to be played for the next 8 songs. We also announce what dance we are doing prior to each song, so beginners unfamiliar with the music know what’s next.

Safety
We ask and encourage all dancers to practice safe floor craft, and proper social dance etiquette. Teachers will review these in the lessons.

Covid-19
We are required by the State of Pa, Plymouth Meeting Mall, and The Church on the Mall to adhere to current Public Health mandates regarding Covid-19. Currently, both vaccinated and un-vaccinated guests will be granted admission, proof of vaccine status is not required. Non vaccinated dancers are strongly encouraged to wear masks to protect yourself, your friends, and those at high risk for health reasons.

  Share dances, not germs!

Refreshments

Teacher Schedule - 2023

Weekly dance lessons are taught by local professional teachers. Each week our lesson will feature a different dance. Teaching schedules can be found on our website, Facebook page and in our newsletter.

The teaching team will help everyone learn the fundamental dance steps in a friendly, supportive, and inclusive group class setting.

Partners are not required and no experience is necessary for the beginner class. We encourage beginners to take the intermediate class also if they feel comfortable with more challenging material.

Teachers switch partners frequently during class so every student can practice the steps and patterns.

Experienced dancers are encouraged to participate as well. Lessons are great practice for all levels!

About Us

The mission of the Peppermint Dance Club is to provide a wholesome and safe environment for new and experienced dancers to learn and social dance

History
Beginning in mid-2021, Frank Sulik has assumed leadership of the Peppermint Dance Club. Frank has been a regular attendee, and part of the volunteer staff of the Peppermint, assisting founders Steve and Betty Culver with running the weekly dance and lessons.

After months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Betty and Steve made the decision to retire. Now that gatherings and social events are reopening, Frank and his team are excited to be restarting the Peppermint Dance every Saturday night, starting on September 11, 2021.

SAFETY
Dancers are encouraged to practice good social etiquette skills and safe dance practice such as good floorcraft (allowing adequate space between other dancer couples to avoid collisions and injury. Dancers, please be aware and respectful of any partner’s limitations and take all precautions to avoid injuring anyone.

Social dancing is different than Competitive dancing (such as Dancing with the Stars). We are here to have fun dancing, learning, and socializing with other like minded people interested in dance.

We ask that dancers refrain from teaching others on the dance floor, unless your partner specifically asks for assistance.

To prevent spills and falls, and damage to dance shoes, food and drinks are not permitted inside the ballroom area. Please enjoy refreshments in the lobby area.

Please notify the staff should a spill occur so we can clean the area quickly.

The Peppermint Dance Club, Plymouth Meeting Mall, and the Church on the Mall have a Peppermint Dance Club Code of Conduct Policy. Any safety concerns, harassment, or injury should be reported to Frank Sulik (or the volunteer staff) Any person threatening or causing intentional injury or harm to another person or property will be asked to leave, or be subject to arrest.

We have access to Mall Security, and the Plymouth Meeting and Montgomery County Police, Fire, and EMS Departments through the 911 call system.

For the safety of the dancers and enjoyment of the music, and per OSHA / NIOSH guidelines, our sound equipment limits the music volume level to <80 dB.

All music played is licensed from:
